Before their life as an illustrator, Lauren worked for many years in museums and has been extremely lucky to continue working within that realm even after pursuing illustration full time. They have collaborated with The American Swedish Institute on a number of their exhibitions since 2018, providing illustrations to spark the imagination of children, create a world for imaginative play, and guide guests through the exhibition halls.
Wee Thee Vikings, 2019
Wee Thee Vikings was a companion to a larger encyclopedic exhibition: The Vikings Begin, a traveling exhibition produced by Uppsala University in Sweden and its museum, Gustavianum. This gallery was intended to be a 360 degree play space for children who visited the museum.
These exhibition illustrations were the new talent winner of the Site Specific Category in the 2020 World Illustration Awards.
All illustrations are mixed media, using watercolor, gouache, markers, color pencil, and crayons.

European Market Square, 2018
This exhibition was a children’s play place themed around a European market square in winter. I was asked to illustrate houses that could line the walls of the gallery to create a more immersive play experience.
All illustrations are mixed media, using watercolor, gouache, and markers.
